. This on-site, contract position is ideal for an associate-level practitioner looking to provide high-quality patient care in an acute care hospital setting.
As a Locum NP/PA Hospitalist, you will play a vital role in managing hospitalized patients, collaborating with attending physicians, and ensuring continuity of care within our Medical Practice. This role offers a dynamic environment where you can apply your clinical expertise across a broad range of internal medicine cases while delivering compassionate, evidence-based care.
Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and physical examinations Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and laboratory results Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for hospitalized patients Collaborate with attending physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care Manage acute and chronic medical conditions within the scope of hospitalist practice Perform procedures consistent with NP/PA hospitalist privileges Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and discharge plans Document patient encounters accurately and in a timely manner within the electronic health record (EHR) Participate in patient rounds and communicate effectively with consulting specialists Respond promptly to changes in patient status and escalate concerns as appropriate Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and quality improvement initiatives Maintain continuity of care during transitions between shifts and care settings
Requirements
Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program Current and unrestricted licensure as an NP or PA in the state of practice National board certification as an NP or PA (e.g., AANP, ANCC, NCCPA) Active Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration or eligibility Associate-level experience in hospitalist medicine, internal medicine, or acute care settings Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and critical thinking skills Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare teams Ability to work independently and make sound medical decisions under pressure Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and medical documentation Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care BLS and ACLS certification required
Schedule: 6a-6p, 7 on/7 off
Call: 3p-6a, 3-4 times per week
Patient Volume: 21-25 per day
Setting: ~300-bed hospital, open ICU
Duties: Behavioral health clinical notes and inpatient admits
No required procedures
Must be board-certified
