Labor and Delivery Unit The function of Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies (WPHWB) Labor and Delivery Unit is based on the primary care model principles. As a Level III Perinatal Center, comprehensive patient centered obstetrical nursing care is provided for both low and high-risk families during the antenatal, labor and delivery and immediate postpartum periods. The Labor and Delivery Unit (L & D) is composed of twenty eight (28) Labor and Delivery Rooms (LDRs) that provide the expectant family with the opportunity to remain together as a unit during labor, birth, and the immediate postpartum period. Labor and Delivery provides care for: − Mothers in active labor with expected delivery, with or without epidurals − Inductions of labor − Immediate postpartum recovery − Immediate newborn care post delivery − Complications of pregnancy requiring inpatient and outpatient evaluation − Emotional and physical care for patients requiring medical termination of pregnancy post-fetal demise. − 24-hour Anesthesia service that is available for pain management in labor and anesthesia management during cesarean birth. Qualifications
Education/Training • Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
Licensure/Certification • Maintains current State of Florida RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license • Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
Experience Less than one year as a licensed registered nurse with no prior experience required.
