As a Locum NP/PA in Critical Care, you will play a vital role in assessing, diagnosing, and managing patients in intensive care settings. Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive assessment and management of critically ill patients in the ICU. Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans. Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within the scope of practice. Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to guide clinical decisions. Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly. Educate patients and their families on conditions and care plans. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic health records. Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and contribute to quality improvement initiatives. Ensure compliance with medical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. Respond quickly and effectively to changes in patient status and emergencies.
Requirements
Associate-level experience in critical care, intensive care, or acute care settings. Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) license. Board certification as an NP (e.g., ACNP, AGACNP) or PA-C; critical care experience strongly preferred. Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and critical thinking skills. Proficiency in performing critical care procedures (e.g., central line insertion, ventilator management) within scope of practice. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interactions with patients, families, and the healthcare team. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. Flexibility to work variable shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed for contract coverage. Commitment to continuing education and staying current with evidence-based practices. Ability to maintain composure and make sound decisions during emergencies.
Schedule: 12-hour day or night shifts, specific dates
No call required
Setting: 30-bed mixed ICU
Daily Patient Volume: 26-28 patients
Required Procedures: Central lines, arterial lines, and intubation
Support Staff: Intensivist from 7a-7p
Must be board-certified
ACLS and DEA required
