Job Description: Position Summary and Purpose The RN Shift Coordinator plays a vital leadership role in supporting unit operations and fostering a culture of clinical excellence. Working in close collaboration with the Clinical Managers and Nursing Directors, the Shift Coordinator serves as an extension of nursing leadership, empowered to address operational concerns, guide staff, and uphold standards of care during assigned shifts. This role includes holding team members accountable, providing timely feedback to the Clinical Managers, and ensuring a safe, efficient, and patient centered environment. Essential Functions: • Provide support in optimizing staffing coverage and coordinating scheduling. • Enhance the patient and family experience by rounding to foster connections, address concerns in real time and implement effective service recovery strategies that promote trust and satisfaction. • Conducts quality rounds to ensure nursing staff consistently adhere to evidence-based practices aimed at preventing Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs), reinforcing a culture of clinical excellence and patient safety. • Ensure consistent adherence to established performance metrics and regulatory benchmarks, fostering accountability and continuous improvement across all areas of practice. • Actively engages in the staff interview process and contributes to retention strategies by fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment that promotes long-term satisfaction and stability. • Delivers timely coaching and counseling, thoughtfully documentation each interaction to support staff development, accountability and continuous performance improvement. • Actively contributes to unit-based committees and participates in team meetings, foster collaboration, shared decision-making and continuous improvement in patient care and operational excellence. Other Functions: • Consistently upholds the Code of Ethics for Nurses. This framework provides a principled foundation for ethical nursing practice and sound decision-making in complex care environments. • Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct • Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times • Performs other duties as assigned Additional Job Description: Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Licensure and Certification) Education: • Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited/approved school of nursing (Required) • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited/approved school of nursing (Preferred). Experience: • One (1) year of clinical experience and additional experience as a Charge Nurse or other nurse leader. Licensure: Active Kentucky Registered Nurse License or compact license with privileges to work in Kentucky (Required). Certification: • Basic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) (Required) • National Nursing Certification in Field of Specialty obtained, if not held at time of hire (Preferred). Job Competency: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities critical to this role: • Proven leadership skills • Excellent communication skills Language Ability: • Must be able to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats. Reasoning Ability: • Ability to break down problems or tasks; scanning one’s own knowledge and experience to identify causes and consequences of events Computer Skills: • Demonstrates proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) and clinical documentation systems to accurately chart patient care, support clinical decision-making, and ensure continuity of care. Utilizes technology to enhance communication among care team members, streamline daily workflows, and uphold compliance with documentation standards.
