Description Medical Assistant

Join our dedicated healthcare team as a Medical Assistant, where you will play a vital role in providing compassionate and efficient patient care. Key Responsibilities: - Escort patients to examination rooms and obtain vital signs - Perform patient intake and document chief complaints, health history updates, medications, allergies, and reasons for visits - Assist healthcare providers with routine gynecological examinations and prenatal visits - Prepare patients for pelvic exams, Pap smears, colposcopies, biopsies, IUD insertions/removals, and other office procedures - Collect laboratory specimens following clinic protocols - Prepare exam rooms, equipment, and supplies for patient visits and procedures - Clean, sterilize, and maintain medical instruments and equipment - Assist with patient monitoring during and after procedures - Schedule appointments, diagnostic testing, referrals, and follow-up visits - Verify insurance information and obtain necessary authorizations - Maintain Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and manage incoming calls

Skills and Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a certified Medical Assistant program preferred - Proven experience in a clinical setting, particularly in gynecology or prenatal care - Knowledge of medical procedures, laboratory specimen collection, and sterilization techniques - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment - Proficiency with EMR systems and scheduling software - Certification in CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) is preferred

At least 1 year of experience in the medical field. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtained within designated timeframe. Minimum one (1) year experience in an outpatient clinic preferred. Women's health, OB/GYN, or prenatal care experience strongly preferred. Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems preferred. Knowledge of prenatal and women's health terminology and procedures. Ability to obtain accurate patient histories and clinical information. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain professionalism and compassion with patients and families. Knowledge of infection prevention and safety practices. Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational and documentation skills. Proficiency with electronic medical record systems and basic computer applications. Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Ability to assist patients with mobility as needed. Manual dexterity sufficient for clinical procedures and computer work.
