Lifekind Health is looking for a full-time Registered Nurse at our Surgery Center in Cathedral City. As a Perioperative RN, you will play a vital role in ensuring safe, efficient, and compassionate care across the surgical continuum. You will support patients before, during, and after procedures while collaborating closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and clinical staff to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. Your expertise directly impacts patient safety, surgical outcomes, and overall clinic efficiency.

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 4:30 pm

Pre-Operative (Pre-Op) Responsibilities:

* Perform patient intake, verification, and comprehensive nursing assessments (vitals, history, allergies, medications) * Review and verify surgical consents, documentation, labs, and clearances prior to procedures * Initiate IV access and prepare/administer ordered medications and fluids * Perform point-of-care testing (e.g., glucose, pregnancy tests) * Provide patient and caregiver education regarding procedures and post-operative expectations * Conduct pre-operative phone calls to review instructions, medical history, and transportation arrangements * Ensure accurate and complete chart preparation and documentation * Maintain pre-op area readiness, cleanliness, and supply stocking

Intra-Operative (Operating Room – Circulating Nurse) Responsibilities:

* Serve as circulating nurse, ensuring patient safety and acting as patient advocate * Prepare operating room with necessary instruments, equipment, and supplies prior to procedures * Verify patient identity, surgical procedure, and site using established safety protocols * Assist surgeons and scrub technicians while maintaining sterile field integrity * Collaborate with anesthesia providers to ensure continuous monitoring and patient stability * Perform surgical counts and monitor adherence to aseptic technique * Accurately document intraoperative events, medications, implants, and specimens * Respond to intraoperative emergencies and initiate appropriate protocols

Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU / Post-Op) Responsibilities:

* Receive and assess patients immediately post-procedure, including airway, vitals, and level of consciousness * Monitor and document ongoing patient status, recognizing and responding to complications * Administer medications, manage IV therapy, and titrate oxygen as needed * Provide pain management and patient comfort measures * Educate patients and caregivers on discharge instructions and post-operative care * Ensure safe discharge, including verification of responsible transportation * Complete discharge documentation and conduct follow-up calls as required

General & Operational Responsibilities:

* Maintain inventory and restock medications and clinical supplies * Perform daily equipment and safety checks (crash cart, AED, oxygen, suction, glucometer) * Conduct environmental and temperature monitoring for compliance * Assist with EKGs, chart audits, scanning, and documentation compliance * Prepare patient charts and surgical documentation * Maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment * Participate in quality improvement and risk management initiatives * Support patient flow, including escorting patients and assisting with room turnover

Our Ideal Candidate will have the following qualifications:

* Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California * Current BLS (CPR) certification required; ACLS required or obtained within designated timeframe * Minimum one (1) year of perioperative, surgical, OR, or PACU nursing experience preferred * Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills * Knowledge of sterile technique, infection prevention, and patient safety standards * Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
