Cabell Huntington Hospital is now accepting applications for Nurse Extern positions—an excellent opportunity for nursing students to gain hands-on clinical experience and work alongside experienced Registered Nurses in a supportive learning environment.

ELIGIBILITY
* ASN students who have completed the first semester of their program
* BSN students who have completed the first semester of their sophomore year

PROGRAM STRUCTURE
Weekly Hours:
* 12 hours/week is ideal. Flexible scheduling and hours
EXTERN I – ENTRY LEVEL
* Float experience across multiple units: * Medical-Surgical * Intensive Care Unit (ICU) * Emergency Room (ER) * Pediatrics * Mother/Baby
EXTERN II – ADVANCED LEVEL
* For students entering the final year of their nursing program
* Unit-based placements in: * Med-Surg * ICU * ER * Women’s and Children’s units
* Externs may shadow an RN and perform skills under supervision
ROLE OVERVIEW
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and in accordance with hospital and nursing policies, the Nurse Extern supports patient care by performing routine clinical tasks aligned with their level of training and experience.
Qualifications
* Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program (sophomore level or higher)
* CPR certification required
* Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with patients and staff
