JOB SUMMARY:
The staff occupational therapist is responsible for the evaluation of patient’s functional status and needs, and the design and implementation of a corrective treatment plan according to the principles and practice of occupational therapy. This includes continuous assessment of the patient’s progress and modification of the plan and goals as necessary, collaborative consultation with other health care professionals and maintenance of accurate and timely medical and business records. The occupational therapist may have supervisory responsibilities over the clinical activities of O.T. assistant and up to one affiliating student per year. Participation in departmental quality improvement activities, community outreach and program development is also required.
DEPT. SCOPE OF SERVICE:
The Occupational Therapy department in Rehabilitation Services provides timely and accurate assessments and treatment programs to meet the needs of inpatient and outpatient clientele as ordered by the medical staff. This service is provided for all patient populations including children, adolescents, adults and geriatrics. Care is defined according to the professional standards of the American Occupational Therapy Association. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Graduate of accredited program in OT (Bachelor or Master of Science) is required. Post professional education in physical agent modalities preferred. Experience: Proficiency in hand therapy required. Recent experience in acute care and experience in ergonomics evaluations helpful. Licensure/Certification: State of Vermont license required; temporary license may be acceptable on entry. CPR certified. Mental Efforts: Requires hand-eye coordination. Corrected vision/hearing to normal range. Ability to read and write. Ability to organize workload and handle multiple priorities. Environment & Working Conditions: Some exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids. Some exposure to hazardous chemicals. Potential for injury due to physical demands.
