About this role
Description The Medical Assistant is a key member of the Student Health & Wellness team, providing clinical and administrative support to the Physician Assistant (PA) to ensure exceptional healthcare services for CATS Academy Boston students.
In addition to supporting daily operations within the Health Center, this position partners closely with Admissions, Residential Life, Student Services, Athletics, and the broader CATS Global Schools network to coordinate incoming student health requirements, verify immunizations and medical documentation, assist with student arrivals, and support wellness initiatives throughout the year.
This is a 12-month position that follows the rhythm of the school year, including student arrivals, orientation, summer programming, and other key school events. On-campus housing may be available based on institutional needs.
Key Responsibilities • Support the Physician Assistant with daily student health services and clinical operations. • Welcome students and families while providing outstanding customer service. • Maintain confidential student medical records and health documentation. • Verify immunizations, physicals, and required medical forms for incoming students. • Coordinate with Admissions on student medical clearance and enrollment requirements. • Schedule appointments, referrals, and follow-up care. • Maintain medical supplies, equipment, and inventory. • Partner with Residential Life, Athletics, and Student Services to support student health and wellness. • Assist with summer programs, student arrivals, orientation, and health education initiatives. • Support health-related projects and initiatives across the CATS Global Schools network as needed. Requirements Certifications & Licensure • Current CPR and First Aid certification — required. • One of the following preferred: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
Clinical & Healthcare Experience • Experience working in a medical office, urgent care, physician practice, school health, or similar healthcare setting preferred. • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) preferred.
Technical Proficiencies • Electronic medical records / electronic health records (EMR/EHR) systems. • Scheduling and appointment-management software. • Standard office productivity software (e.g., Microsoft Office / Google Workspace) for documentation and correspondence. • Comfort learning and navigating school-specific administrative and student information systems.
Interpersonal & Professional Skills • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills. • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, student-centered environment. • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism when working with students, families, and staff. • Cultural competency and comfort working within an international, boarding-school community.
