Summary of Responsibilities:
To greet patients in a professional, courteous manner and obtain and document pertinent medical and ophthalmic patient history on the appropriate forms.
Essential Job Functions:
* Provide optimum assurance of safe surgical environment. Check preoperative and PACU areas, materials and equipment for appropriate patient care. * Ensures clean, safe environment through continued alertness to safety, explosive hazards and aseptic techniques. * Maintain appropriate levels of office supplies and other materials to allow staff to complete assigned responsibilities and provides for patient needs by submitting approved purchase requisitions. * Assists in control of traffic and personnel to ensure proper control of infection and asepsis. * Transport patients for discharge. * Discontinue IV catheter as directed by nurse. * Assists in efficient turnover by performing patient care responsibilities in timely, efficient manner. * Clean stretchers according to infection control policy * Respect and understand the patient right to treatment and right to involvement in treatment decisions. * Obtain vital signs for preoperative and postoperative phase. · Participate in staff education programs * Participate in Surgery Center quality improvement activities. * Does not engage in gossip or other non-productive behavior as outlined in Employee
