Occupational Title: Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (CRNP/PA)

Description: Examines and treats patients independently and in autonomous collaboration with other health care professionals. Ensures proper illness and injury care and disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Master's degree in area of specialty, certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (CRNP/PA), and state authority for advanced practice. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. 

Provides safe, competent nursing care for patients in accordance with facility policies, standards, and philosophy. Provides professional leadership and support to the healthcare team. The concepts of Patient Centered Care will provide the foundation for all nursing care. Oversees and guides employees that are under his/her supervision. Demonstrates Service Excellence standards at all times.

Key Performance Indicators:

* The Primary function is to conduct a clinic for cardiology, interventional, and pain clinics.

* Hospital rounds will be on an as needed basis during normal office hours.

* Initial clinical visits, pre care, and post care if an intervention is required.

* Obtains necessary medical history, discusses procedure and answers questions, and performs consents and or required information if required on the day of the procedure.

* Monitor and prescribe medications (Medical management of prescriptions) as necessary for patients.

* Provides education to patients and the patient's family regarding post procedure care of vascular access.

* Acts as a resource for the patient to address patient concerns and questions.

* Identifies and communicates patient related issues to facility management, as needed.

* Completes documentation of patient information from admission to discharge in an accurate manner.

* Confirm written orders, consents and lab work are completed and documented in accordance with facility policies. This includes appropriate preparation of lab requisitions; delivery to appropriate labs; reporting and forwarding of lab results to appropriate physicians.

* Maintains competency with all emergency operational procedures, and initiates CPR and emergency measures, as needed.

* Performs point – of – care laboratory testing and in compliance with FVC, company, federal, state and local regulations.

* Performs IV insertion if necessary.

* Performs Venous Ablations if interested in developing a venous program.

* Performs additional tasks as designated by Physician, practicing in compliance with state regulations.

* Maintains Halter Monitors, Pacemakers, Loop Recorders, etc.

PHYSICIANS:

* Provides regular and effective communication with physicians on an as needed basis.

* Attends and participates in Medical Board meetings as needed, assisting with meeting agenda and gathering of data/material.

* Attends and participates in meetings with physicians, reporting on assigned topics.

* May assist facility management in working with the physicians and staff to verify all necessary instruments and equipment.

* Assists the physician in completing and reporting state required adverse event reports and reporting internally as per Company policy and procedure.

MAINTENANCE/TECHNICAL:

* Operates appropriate facility equipment and technology, including but not limited to, patient monitors, defibrillators, medical recording devices, sterilizers and computers in a safe and efficient manner.

* Uses the hospital's EMR for patient records and dictation.

* Ensures a clean, safe and sanitary environment in the vascular access facility at all times.

* Must adhere to all policies while at the hospital.

Requirements

Experience, Training, and Qualifications needed to perform the job:

* Current CRNP or PA license in the State of Utah.

* Graduate of an accredited school of Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant

* Completion of a Specialty course/or equivalent

* Current BLS certification

* Current ACLS certification

* Other certifications that may be required

General Requirements:

In addition to the specific duties listed above, the Employee is required to do the following:

* Any tasks, projects, or actions that are reasonably within the scope of the Employee’s position or employment, which the Employee’s supervisor, any member of BMH’s management, or BMH’s administration team—asks of the Employee.  Tasks, projects, or actions are “reasonably within the scope” of the Employee’s employment or position unless the same are so far removed therefrom that no legitimate argument can be made that such tasks, projects, or actions are in any way related to BMH or the Employee’s employment or position within BMH.

* Act as professionally as should normally be required in a medical organization.  This shall include giving all appropriate respect and deference to licensed medical providers and behavioral health providers (hereafter jointly referred to as “Providers”).  Providers include, but may not be limited to physician assistants, nurse practitioners (or similar), and Physician Assistants.

* Keep all BMH business and patient information strictly confidential and to adhere to all other BMH confidentiality policies and procedures, as well as all laws affecting confidentiality.

* Refrain—whatsoever—from intentionally, purposely, knowingly, or negligently engaging in any conduct, actions, or speech that may cause concern, apprehension, confusion, or annoyance on the part of any BMH patient toward BMH as an organization or any BMH employee.

* Work congenially and cooperatively at all times with all other BMH employees.  This includes maintaining a pleasant demeanor and attitude and executing position duties and administration’s/management’s other requests in a timely manner, diligently, and with a positive attitude.  This requirement further includes refraining from personally degrading any other person or BMH employee.  As part of this requirement, the Employee must refrain from engaging in gossip about any BMH employees and/or patients.

* Communicate complaints about BMH, its policies, procedures, managers, administrators, and/or other employees—only to and through the appropriate BMH channels, which are limited to BMH’s management chain of command.  No complaints, judgments, or degrading comments about BMH, its policies, procedures, managers, administrators, and/or other employees—should be shared with anyone other than the appropriate persons within BMH’s management chain of command who have the ability to work to remedy any related problems.  Unless the Employee’s direct supervisor is part of the problem or complaint—problems and complaints should first be voiced to the Employee’s direct supervisor and upward therefrom through BMH’s internal m
