At Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista, our perioperative professionals work together in a supportive, fast-paced environment focused on patient safety, teamwork, and advanced surgical care technologies. The Nursing Manager is responsible for creating and maintaining an environment that ensures the nursing practice reflects established standards of care and promotes a culture of patient safety. This role oversees the daily operations of surgical services ensuring efficient workflows, appropriate staffing, and high-quality patient care delivery. Key Responsibilities Oversee daily operations of assigned nursing unit(s). Develop and manage staffing plans to ensure appropriate coverage and quality patient care. Ensure staff have access to the necessary equipment, supplies, and resources to perform their duties effectively. Promote and maintain compliance with established standards of nursing care and practice. Foster a culture centered on patient safety, quality outcomes, and continuous improvement. Monitor adherence to care processes related to: Bed placement Patient transfers Room cleaning Patient discharge Facilitate safe patient transitions throughout the continuum of care. Ensure active participation of nursing staff in care planning and coordination. Oversee direct patient hand-off communication to the next appropriate level of care. Maintain accountability for operational budgets within assigned department(s). Required Education, Experience & Specialized Skills Associate’s degree in Nursing is required. Minimum of five (5) years of applicable clinical experience required, including at least two (2) years in a leadership role. Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Demonstrated ability to exercise authority and responsibility for assigned services based on organizational scope and complexity of patient care. Excellent communication, problem-solving, team development, planning, and follow-through skills required. Required Certifications & Licensure Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license required. Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification required. Must maintain all competencies and certifications required of the Charge RN on the assigned unit. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred. CNOR preferred Previous acute care leadership experience strongly preferred.
