About the Role:
The RN Swing Bed FT Nights position is a critical nursing role focused on providing comprehensive care to patients transitioning from acute hospital care to a swing bed unit. This role ensures continuity of care by managing patient assessments, administering treatments, and coordinating with interdisciplinary teams during night shifts. The nurse will play a vital part in monitoring patient progress, managing complex medical conditions, and facilitating safe discharges or transfers. This position requires a compassionate and detail-oriented professional who can work independently during night hours while maintaining high standards of patient safety and comfort. Ultimately, the RN in this role contributes to improved patient outcomes and supports the hospital’s mission to deliver exceptional healthcare services around the clock.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas.. * Graduation from an accredited nursing program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing). * Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), current certifications. * Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience, preferably in acute care, rehabilitation, or swing bed settings. * Ability to work full-time night shifts as scheduled. * Strong familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. * Advanced certifications such as or Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN). * Experience working in swing bed or transitional care units. * Demonstrated skills in patient education and discharge planning.
Responsibilities:
* Provide direct nursing care to swing bed patients during night shifts, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care plans. * Monitor patient vital signs, symptoms, and overall condition, promptly identifying and responding to changes or emergencies. * Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and documentation standards. * Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and discharge planning. * Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including progress notes, medication administration, and incident reports. * Educate patients and their families about care plans, medications, and post-discharge instructions to promote recovery and prevent readmission. * Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and infection control standards during all nursing activities.

The RN Swing Bed FT Nights role requires strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills to effectively monitor and respond to patient needs during night hours. Excellent communication skills are essential for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and educating patients and families. Proficiency in medication administration and adherence to safety protocols ensures high-quality care delivery. Familiarity with electronic health records facilitates accurate documentation and information sharing. Additionally, time management and organizational skills are vital to prioritize tasks and maintain patient safety in an overnight clinical environment.
Nights: 6:45 PM-6:45 AM. Scheduled shifts. Schedule may include some weekend and holidays. This position is scheduled for 36 hours per week. The position, if applicable, is eligible for overtime pay and shift differential pay.
